Kenya Police lose to Mathare United, Shabana hold Nzoia in pre-season friendly

FKF Premier League side Kenya Police suffered a 4-3 loss to Mathare United in a pre-season friendly at Police grounds on Saturday.

The Law Enforcers were using the match to gear up for the upcoming FKF Premier League season, while Mathare United were preparing for the National Super League (NSL) after being relegated last season following 25 years in the top tier.

Kenya Police Contrasting halves

Police had a contrasting match as they scored three unanswered goals in the first half, with Elvis Rupia, Kenneth Muguna, and David Simiyu each contributing a goal.

However, the Slum Boys staged a remarkable comeback in the second half with Steve Kimari, Christian Lubulu, Peter Kinyanjui, and Meshack Ochieno finding the net, ultimately securing a 4-3 victory.

Kenya Police has been actively engaged in friendly matches as part of their preparation for the new season.

During their tour in Tanzania, they played to a 1-1 draw against Singida and Namungo FC. In Rwanda, they triumphed over Rayon Sports 1-0 but lost 2-1 to Rwanda Police FC.

Kenya Police additions

In their quest to strengthen the team for the upcoming season, Kenya Police FC has made notable signings in the midfield, including Tyson Otien and Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna.

They have also bolstered their technical staff by appointing Salim Babu as an assistant coach and Nowel Mandi as a physiotherapist, enhancing the team’s expertise.

During the previous FKF Premier League season, Kenya Police FC showcased an impressive performance, finishing third in the league standings, only six points behind the champions, Gor Mahia.

Their record of 18 wins, 10 draws, and six losses highlighted their attacking prowess, scoring 55 goals while maintaining a solid defence by conceding the fewest goals, just 22.

In another friendly match, Nzoia Sugar and FKF Premier League newcomers Shabana FC played to a 1-1 draw. Daniel Wafula scored for Nzoia Sugar, while Absolom Aduda responded with the equalizer for Shabana.

Both teams are now preparing for the upcoming league season, scheduled to begin next weekend.
