Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 10 counties on Wednesday, March 4

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power maintenance that will result in electricity outages across parts of 10 counties on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the utility company revealed that the blackout, expected to last between 7 and 8 hours in most areas, is part of routine maintenance aimed at ensuring a reliable electricity supply.

“Good evening, the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 04.03.2026,” the company wrote.

In the Nairobi region, residents and businesses along parts of Kibera Drive, Kabarnet Road, and surrounding neighbourhoods, including DC Kibera, Kichinjio, Kibera Lindi, Kibera Law Courts, Huduma Centre, Makina Mosque, Kambi Muru, Kibera Mashimoni, and Mashimoni Primary School, will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kajiado County, the outage will affect Rongai, Church Road, and Matasia areas, including Magadi Road, Total and Shell stations, Laiser Hill Academy, Olerai School, Kware Market, and Nairobi Women & Fatima, also from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Parts of Nakuru County, including Mogotio and Lake Bogoria, will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., affecting locations such as Ravine Junction, Dale Flora, Kipsyenan, Mauade, Sarambei, Athinai Sisal Factory, Soin Hospital, Equator, Alphega Sisal Factory, Lomolo Sisal, Majani Mingi Sisal, Kipkitur, Mugurin, Emsos, and Lake Bogoria Gate.

In Bomet County, areas in Sotik and Gorgor will be without power from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including Gorgor Booster, Gelegele Secondary, Kelonget Water, Kaplomboi Market, Kaplelach Market, Kamukunji Market, Kweleta Market, Kapchumbe Secondary & Market, and Kapsosurwa Secondary.

In Bungoma County, Webuye and Kimilili residents—including Namawanga, Kambini, Wenyila, Kamtiong, Kapsokwony, Maeni, Kamasielo, Kibieto Namakhele, and Cheromisand, will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kakamega County, areas of Kakamega and Shikoti, including Shikoti Mission, Shikoti Market, Lower Ingotse Market, Maraba, Esumeiya, Lwanda Shop, Meteorological Site, Lurambi Primary, Lukume Market, Shihome Secondary, and Shikutse Market, will also experience blackouts from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Parts of Nyamira County, specifically Birongo and Mongoni—including Nyankoba Tea Factory, One Hen Project, Birongo Market, Nyasore Market, Mongoni, Amabuko, and Geteni Dispensary & Secondary, will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In the Mt. Kenya region, residents in Ndima and Kiangai, Nyeri County, including Gatura Market, Kamunyaka Coffee Factory, Gikororo TBC, Merere TBC, Kahuru Market, Kianjuu TBC, Ndima Tea Factory, Ndima Kanini Academy, Mathia Market, and multiple surrounding villages, will face outages from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kiambu County, areas around Murera Sisal, Jujafarm, and Athi, including Murera Sisal, Matangi-Ni, Hamundia, Theta, PCEA, Matangi, Magomano, Ndarasha, Ndururumo, Ruiriro, Pherie, Mathitima, Karia, Ngomatubu, Corner Brook, KPP Production, Space & Style, St. Dominic School, Mastores, Abba Salama, Chai Road, Kirathimo, Tumaini, Muhaka, Jujafarm Market, and Jujafarm Polytechnic, will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In the Coast region, Kilifi County residents in KBC Marekebuni, Marafa, Garashi, Wakala, Pumwani, GIS, and surrounding areas, as well as Watamu and Gede, including Watamu Village, Casino Watamu, Fragola, Seven Island, Watamu Police, Timboni, Gede, Jimba, Dabaso, Blue Bay, Peponi, Watamu Mall, Natural Mente Pane, Snake Farm, and Watamu Posta, will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kenya Power then advised affected residents and businesses to plan ahead and take necessary precautions during the scheduled blackout.
