Kenya Power has issued a statement apologising to Kenyans after a technical hitch was witnessed on their prepaid system.
The technical hitch which was affecting the generation of electricity tokens was witnessed for the better part of Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
In a statement issued on Thursday morning, Kenya Power acknowledged that they were experiencing a hitch on their prepaid system and thus the generation of electricity tokens was affected countrywide.
The utility company has however assured its clients that its technical team is working round the clock to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible.
“We are experiencing a hitch on the prepaid system which is affecting the generation of electricity tokens. We are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” the utility company stated.

On the morning of Thursday, October 19, 2023, quarters took to various social media platforms to highlight their plight.
A spotcheck by K24 Digital showed that each attempt to purchase tokens would be met by a confirmation message notifying a user that Kenya Power’s system had technical challeneges whener one would purchase tokens.
“Transcation failed, M-PESA cannot complete payment to KPLC PREPAID. The organization’s system of receiving payment experienced some technical challenges, try again later,” the statement by M-PESA read.
