Tips to survive during an electricity blackout
With several areas set to experience planned power interruptions, households are advised to prepare in advance to minimise disruption.

Charge phones, power banks, and essential gadgets early, and keep emergency lighting such as torches or rechargeable lamps within reach. Store enough drinking water and prepare meals that do not require electricity.
Businesses should back up important data and power down sensitive equipment to avoid damage when electricity is restored.
Keep refrigerator doors closed to preserve food for longer, and unplug appliances to prevent power surges. Most importantly, exercise caution around electrical lines and avoid unsafe alternatives such as candles in enclosed spaces.
