Kenya Power has issued a notice to Nairobi residents occupying land reserved for the utility firm in Komarock to vacate within the next three months or be forcefully evicted.
In a notice copied to the OCPD Embakasi, Kenya Power explained that those occupying the land listed LR No.113044/R NAIROBI without a licence violated a decree issued by Milimani Law Courts on September 26, 2024.
Hence, the utility firm issued a notice to the public to stop all activities on the land and remove any buildings, agricultural practices and other improvements that may have been erected.
“Take notice that at the expiry of three months, you will be evicted without any further reference to you at your costs and peril,” the notice read in part.
According to the Land Act, unlawful occupation is defined as either occupying. erecting buildings, cultivating, or extracting resources on public land without a license or authority.
Those found guilty of this offence are liable to face a fine of up to Ksh.500,000.
