Darren Jason Watkins Jr., known online as iShowSpeed, is visiting Kenya as part of his month-long “Speed Does Africa” tour. The tour will take him to nearly 20 African countries, showcasing the continent’s cultures, landscapes, and creative talent to his millions of followers.

Speed’s arrival in Nairobi on Sunday drew large crowds at every location. He began the day at Upper Hill School, where he engaged with students and took part in activities with the Kenya Rugby team. Later, he visited Kenyatta Market, where he was warmly received by traders and shoppers. In a generous gesture, he purchased a T-shirt marked at Ksh3,000 for Ksh20,000, an act widely shared on social media and praised by fans.

During his visit, iShowSpeed explored Nairobi National Park, interacted with wildlife, and sampled local cuisine, including ugali and nyama choma. He also immersed himself in the city’s culture, enjoying the vibrant matatu scene and the hospitality of Kenyans.

The streamer’s livestream from Kenya resulted in a record surge in his YouTube subscribers, with hundreds of thousands joining in a single day. This pushed his channel past 48 million subscribers, a milestone he attributed to the overwhelming support he received from Kenyan fans.

President William Ruto welcomed iShowSpeed with a video message, inviting him to continue exploring Kenya’s attractions and experience the country’s rich culture and natural beauty.
