Kenyan celebrity barber Joseph Cutz has mourned Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, days after revealing his long-held dream of personally grooming the tycoon.

Joseph, who had hoped to have Chivayo sit in his barber’s chair, shared an emotional message following the businessman’s death in a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe.

“I honestly don’t even know what to say. Just days ago, I publicly shared a dream I had carried in my heart for many years to one day have the honour of personally serving @sir_wicknell_chivayo,” Joseph wrote in a post shared on social media on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Joseph said he was particularly excited after Chivayo accepted his request and followed him back on Instagram, making him believe that his dream could finally become a reality.

“I was so happy when I saw that he had accepted my request and followed me back. At that moment, I felt like my dream was beginning to come closer to becoming a reality,” he said.

The barber’s dream came to light on Tuesday, September 29, when he revealed that he had spent eight years hoping to one day give Chivayo a Joseph Cutz haircut.

“For a long time, I’ve dreamed of the day Sir Wicknell Chivayo comes to Kenya. It would be a great honour to personally serve him and give him a JosephCutz haircut,” he added.

Joseph explained that although a haircut could take only a few minutes, the opportunity would have carried deep personal significance.

“It may only be a service that takes a few minutes, but to me, it is a dream I have carried in my heart for 8 years,” he wrote.

He also said his vision was built around faith, patience and hard work.

“Sometimes, dreams begin as a simple thought in the heart, but through faith, hard work, patience, and God opening doors we never expected, they can become reality.”

At the time, Joseph maintained that he was not seeking attention and was willing to wait for the right opportunity.

“I’m not rushing the timing, and I’m not posting this for attention. This is simply a vision I have carried in my heart for years,” he said.

Joseph had also concluded his earlier post with confidence that he would eventually achieve the dream.

Joseph on Chivayo’s death

The dream, however, was never fulfilled following Chivayo’s death on Wednesday, September 30.

Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, were among six people who died after a helicopter crashed in the Marondera rural area, southeast of Harare.

Zimbabwean authorities confirmed the crash and said there were no survivors. The cause of the accident had not been established as of Thursday, with investigations expected to determine what happened.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Joseph said the incident had reminded him of how unpredictable life can be.

“But today, I’m reminded of how short and unpredictable life truly is. Some dreams we get the chance to see fulfilled, while others remind us to cherish every moment we have and never take tomorrow for granted,” Joseph stated.

He sent his condolences to Chivayo’s family and loved ones.

“My heart and prayers are with his family, loved ones, and everyone mourning this tremendous loss,” he wrote.

“Rest in peace, Sir Wicknell.”
