A 26-year-old Kenyan was on Sunday arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, Sri Lanka while trying to smuggle in 4 Kgs of cocaine worth over Ksh.136M (Rs 300M).

According to Sri Lankan media outlets, the suspect who is also said to be a car dealer, had arrived from Ethiopia through Qatar before arriving in Sri Lanka.

Officers from the Sri Lanka Customs narcotics control unit found 180 capsules of cocaine stashed inside three metal cookie tins concealed in luggage.

The suspect has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers as further investigations take course.
