Christine Ombaka, a forensic investigator at Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, has been named winner of the 2026 Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Global Public Sector Advocacy Award, a prestigious recognition handed out to professionals who advance integrity and accountability in government institutions worldwide.
The award was presented on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at a ceremony held at Integrity Centre in Nairobi, putting Ombaka’s name on the map as a standout figure in Africa’s anti-corruption landscape.

The ACCA judging panel cited her contributions across several specialised areas, including corruption investigations, forensic accounting, asset tracing and the development of anti-corruption guidance frameworks.
Beyond technical work, the panel highlighted her role in strengthening risk management systems within public institutions, mentoring upcoming professionals, and actively engaging ACCA members, employers and students in conversations around ethics and good governance.
EACC Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud, represented at the ceremony by Director of Field Services and Coordination Jackson Mue, described the award as proof of what professional commitment can achieve within a public institution.

“Christine’s achievement reflects the professionalism and dedication that our officers continue to demonstrate in the execution of the Commission’s mandate,” Mohamud said.
He added that the EACC would continue investing in the professional growth of its staff so they could make meaningful contributions to the fight against corruption.

In her acceptance remarks, Ombaka chose to redirect the spotlight away from herself, dedicating the award to the Commission as a whole.
She thanked EACC for the institutional support that had shaped her growth over the years, noting that the recognition was a reflection of the collective effort behind every investigation and accountability initiative the Commission undertakes.
