Kenyan TikTokers have held the very first live in a bid to raise Ksh140,000 for ailing influencer Cindy, who is admitted at the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.

The live, which ran for over five hours on the night of Sunday, February 15, 2026, was hosted by TikTokers Collins and Mali Safi.

According to an update that TikToker Collins issued after visiting Cindy in the hospital, the bill had already totalled Ksh134,000 and was expected to skyrocket due to additional charges and her continued stay at the facility.

He urged people to genuinely donate money for Cindy and clarified that her Social Health Authority (SHA) insurance was not functional because she had registered while already admitted.

“So this is the thing. Cindy is in the hospital, and we just came from there, and the bill accumulates to 134K. She was requesting if you guys could come through for her so she can get discharged tomorrow, because she is supposed to be discharged tomorrow, but the bill is what is preventing her. And to those asking why she does not have SHA insurance, it’s because she registered while in the hospital, and that’s why they rejected it. For those who will support Cindy, please do support her,” he said.

Drama over lack of transparency

However, the live, which had already started to generate some money, culminated in drama as a section of TikTokers faulted those running the fundraiser for not presenting official bills from the hospital.

One TikToker, Auka, who uses the handle @aukaisabusiness, shared that he did not see the point of a wealthy TikToker holding such a large live to request a relatively small sum when she always has significant resources.

He added that people are becoming tired of being called upon to raise funds for minor affairs.

“We really need to discuss sustainability. At this rate, TikTokers are tired because of these small fundraisers, which appear every time. Yet people support you in other ways that generate income, even playing matches with you and helping you make money. But when it comes to small fundraisers, you are asking them to donate,” he said.

Further, TikToker Diana Rose lamented that, while people were being asked to donate, the bill they had been presented was only an interim one.

She questioned why the organisers were not providing the official stamped bill from the hospital.

“In my opinion, I refuse to accept this as the hospital’s bill. I am saying it loud and clear. An interim bill should have an official stamp from the accounts department. The hospital has nothing to lose. They must produce a valid document. Doctors don’t provide bills; it’s the accounts department that does,” she said.
