Kenyan Twitter user arrested over DP Gachagua, MP Nyoro claims

A Kenyan man operating a parody account on X (formerly Twitter) has been arrested over unfounded allegations that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua wants to harm Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro.

Silvance Adongo Abeta who runs a parody account under a female name Karen Wanjiku HSC (@WanjikuHSC) was arrested on Friday in what detectives say is spreading propaganda against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other government figures and entities.

Abeta’s charge sheet shows that he is being charged with cyber crimes, among them cyberbullying and spreading misinformation.

“The respondent is a notorious cyberbully who operates a parody Twitter (X) account known as @WanjikuHSC under the name Karen Wanjiku HSC. To cover his true identity, the respondent uses the parody account to publish false information, bully and cyber harass innocent Kenyan citizens,” the charge sheet read.

His arrest came after he made a controversial post touching on DP Rigathi Gachagua and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

Abeta is now raising funds asking well-wishers to help offset his bail.

According to a list he shared online, among those who have allegedly contributed towards his bail is Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who gave out Ksh.15,000.
