The former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has disowned a Facebook page claiming to give loans in his name.
The page dubbed ‘Mbuvi Kioko’ uses a photo of the former Nairobi governor and claims to give treats including motorbikes and school fees.
Upon further investigations it is noted that Sonko has a verified Facebook account and his authentic Facebook page, has was no post offering any such loans.
On his official Twitter account, the former governor put out a statement disowning the page and urging his followers not to send money to any number should they be told to pay for loan registration fees.
“Watu wangu. Kindly note that there are Facebook accounts zinaitwa Mike Kioko na nyingine Mike Sonko, na Mike Mbuvi na pia Mike Mbuvi Sonko which are being used to swindle unsuspecting members of the public ati naepeana school fees loan between 70k to 150k & also free motorbikes,” he posted.
