Police officers in Siaya County have apprehended the key suspect in the murder of a man who was shot during a robbery incident at a cyber shop on August 1.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, Charles Odhiambo was arrested after forensic trails led officers to his hideout on Awelo estate.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that Odhiambo was part of a gang identified as ‘comrades’ which is said to have been behind a series of robbery incidents in the county.

A getaway motorcycle was recovered alongside two number plates, assorted mobile phones, home appliances, National ID cards and two pangas believed to be his tools of crime.

Other items include steel cutters, several spanners, a printer, a projector and screwdrivers.

Odhiambo has since been booked at Yala police station pending arraignment.

Meanwhile, a manhunt to apprehend his accomplices is underway.
