Khaligraph Jones has finally broken his silence on the one thing Kenyans couldn’t stop talking about: his striking physical transformation.

The Kenyan rap heavyweight sat down with TUKO.co.ke during the launch of Chrome Brandy at the Tusker Microbrewery in Nairobi, where he was also unveiled as the brand’s official ambassador.

Why did Khaligraph Jones lose weight?

It was there that he addressed the weight loss that has had fans speculating for months.

His answer turned out to be refreshingly straightforward.

“I was overweight, and so I decided to do something about it; there is nothing big behind it. Looking like that and being overweight is not okay; let’s get healthy,” he said.

The numbers behind the transformation are striking. Khaligraph reportedly peaked at between 137 and 140kg before embarking on his health journey.

How did Khaligraph lose weight?

By August 2026, he had hit 99.8kg, celebrating the milestone publicly as the first time he had been in double digits since his high school days, specifically around Form Two.

His target remains 90kg, which would put his total weight loss at roughly 47kg. The approach he has taken combines intermittent fasting, a clean diet and regular gym sessions.

He fasts for up to four days a week, with Mondays serving as his anchor fasting day and the fast sometimes stretching into Tuesday and Wednesday.

During those periods, he sticks to water, fruits like apples and watermelon, and sweet potatoes.

Outside of fasting, his meals follow a high-protein, ketogenic-style approach built around chicken, fish, eggs, vegetables and plenty of water, with processed foods and sugar largely cut out.

He has paired all of this with consistent, intense weight-lifting sessions, with a clear focus on shedding body fat while holding on to muscle.

How did Khaligraph respond to criticism about his weight loss?

Not everyone has been cheering the new look. A vocal section of fans has expressed nostalgia for his former big, imposing frame, arguing it was part of his identity as an artiste.

Khaligraph was unbothered. He suggested that some people preferred his heavier build because it gave them a sense of shared comfort in being out of shape themselves. He also quipped that he had no plans to donate his old oversized clothes, reasoning that handing them out might inadvertently encourage others to stay unhealthy.

What did Khaligraph say about his ambassador role?

The ambassador role at Chrome Brandy also gave him the platform to speak on something beyond fitness.

Reflecting on the brand’s “Levels Change Roots Don’t” campaign, he connected it to his own story.

“Regardless of where God places you in life, we have to be rooted to the cause of why we are doing what we are doing. The hunger remains the same. Despite everything that I have right now, the hunger remains the same; we strive for more,” he said.
