A family in Githunguri, Kiambu County, is grieving after a young woman identified as Suzzanne Mugure Wambui reportedly died while giving birth, leaving behind a newborn and a community shattered by the loss.
The baby, who had not yet been born at the time of the mother’s death, is currently receiving care at a hospital under the watch of Suzzanne’s relatives. Her family is now preparing for her funeral and has reached out to the public for support during this difficult period.
Maternity Shoot Photos Emerge After Her Death
Adding to the heartbreak, maternity shoot photos that Suzzanne had taken before her death have since surfaced online, offering a painful glimpse of the joy and hope she carried into motherhood. The images have moved many to tears, with those who knew her describing a woman full of promise and warmth.
A community spokesperson who shared news of her passing described her as “a young woman who had a very promising future,” urging well-wishers to stand with the family as they prepare to lay her to rest. A family contact number was shared for those wishing to offer support.
Githunguri Seniors FC Mourns One of Their Own
Joan Wambui announced Suzzanne’s passing in an emotional Facebook post that drew an outpouring of grief from across the community.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our own, Susan Mugure,” she wrote. “A lady of deep faith, kindness, and quiet strength. A devoted mother, a loyal friend, and a pillar in her family and neighbourhood.”
Joan also acknowledged Suzzanne’s deep ties to Githunguri Seniors FC, a local football club she had supported passionately.
“A dedicated member of our community and a true supporter, friend, and family to Githunguri Seniors FC. Susan tragically lost her life while giving birth, and her absence leaves a silence we never expected to face,” she wrote.
The post went on to capture the kind of person Suzzanne was beyond her role as a supporter.
“To those who knew her, Susan was more than a fan; she was energy, loyalty, and love wrapped in one. She showed up for us, believed in us, and celebrated every win like it was her own.”
Joan closed her tribute with a message of solidarity:
