King Mohammed VI of Morocco on Wednesday welcomed President Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, who is on a business visit to Morocco, at the Royal Palace in Rabat.

This visit builds on the new stage in bilateral ties that began with a meeting between His Majesty the King, may God praise Him, and the President of the Spanish Government in April 2022, and the adoption of the Joint Declaration between the two nations.

This new momentum is progressing satisfactorily. It is distinguished by increased cooperation, coordination, and partnership in all disciplines, which are founded on the concepts of trust, mutual respect, ambition, good neighborliness, and commitment.

During this audience, the President of the Spanish Government reiterated to His Majesty the King, may God preserve him, Spain’s position outlined in the joint declaration of April 2022, which views the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the most serious, realistic, and credible basis for resolving this dispute.

His Majesty the King commended Spain for its new constructive and vital stance.

José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and Emma Aparici, Secretary General of Foreign Affairs at the Presidency of the Government, represented Spain, while Fouad Ali El Himma, HM the King’s Advisor, represented Morocco, as did Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.

When he arrived at the Royal Palace, the President of the Spanish government reviewed a contingent of the Royal Guard who performed the honors before being invited to the usual milk and date giving ceremony.”
