A Senior Chief from Kirinyaga County has beseeched Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to intervene in a stalled defilement case.

During a Jukwaa la Usalama forum in Kerugoya on Friday, the Chief told Murkomen he had been seeking justice for his  son who was sodomized five years ago, but police have been letting him down.

The Chief told the Cabinet Secretary that his son was sodomized by a well-known person in 2020, but police from Kianyaga and Kiamutugu have been protecting the suspect.

“I have even been going to  Kirinyaga Police commander in Kerugoya in vain. I am a government  officer like them but they have been refusing  to help me. Yet i am the one helping people here ,who will help me now?” the Chief asked.

Speaking after the forum, the chief accused a DCI officer from Gichugu, who was investigating the case, of failing to help.

“I suspect  the officer who has been transferred  has been working with senior officers in this region because I am being taken around whenever I visit a police station, even in the police commander’s office in Kerugoya,” the senior Chief said.

The Chief said he decided to expose the case to the Interior CS because he had no option.

“At first I thought  the police would help me but right now I am stressed, Because even my son was infected,” Kathuri said.

The Chief said even his wife ran away from their homestead after the incident and left him with his son who is now 18 years.

She thought he had the power to see the suspect is prosecuted as area chief.

Murkomen ordered investigations into the matter, promising that the victim will get justice.
