Detectives in Mombasa County have arrested 39 more machete-wielding gangs in Kisauni Sub-County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the gangs were mopped up during a multi-agency operation in Junda, Bilima, Barisheba, Sunlight, Mwandoni, Cobra, Kadongo Grounds, Mwakirunge, and Vikwatani areas.

The suspects were locked up at Mjambere Police Station, where they are undergoing processing pending arraignment.

The arrest comes days after another 51 suspects were arrested in the same sub-county in the crackdown aimed at dismantling criminal gangs, including the notorious Panga Boys.

The 51 who are still detained at Mjambere were rounded up from the neighbourhoods of Corner Ya Kisauni, Jocham Hospital, Barisheba, Sunlight, Mwandoni, Junda, Cobra, and Kadongo Grounds.

Police also impounded five tuk-tuks, believed to be used in phone snatching.
