Bridesmaids gathered at the burial of Judy Moraa in Kisii wearing the green wedding dresses she had chosen for her December ceremony, a scene that drew grief from all who attended.
Judy, who had planned to wed Mathew Ocharo on December 20, 2026, at Nyanchwa in Kisii County, died on August 26 at Bosongo Hospital, where she had been in and out of the intensive care unit. She was buried before she could walk down the aisle.
Earlier today, during her burial, the matching group of bridesmaids appeared in the dresses selected for what was to be a joyful occasion, but many wore sullen expressions and were visibly tearful throughout the ceremony. The sight of the wedding attire at a burial struck a painful contrast that moved those in attendance deeply.
Judy Moraa’s Final Days
Close friends who came forward after news of her passing broke said Judy died following a short illness.Some of those who knew her indicated that her stomach had become swollen in her final days, a condition that ultimately proved fatal.
She had been admitted to Bosongo Hospital, where medical staff placed her in intensive care on more than one occasion before she passed away.
Judy is survived by her husband, Mathew Ocharo, and their son. Mathew served as a chorister at SDA Church Betterliving Getembe.

The couple had maintained a joint TikTok account under the name TheOcharo’sfamily. Judy was an active presence on the platform and used it regularly to share content with her audience.
What has unsettled many of her followers is her final post on TikTok, in which she asked for prayers. At the time, those who viewed it could not have anticipated the severity of her condition.
The post has since taken on a different meaning for the community she built online, many of whom are now mourning a person they followed through her everyday life and her relationship with Mathew.
The wedding, planned for December 20, was intended to mark the beginning of a new chapter for the couple. Instead, the date now stands as a reminder of what both families have lost.
