Nairobi Man Surprises Matatu Tout and Passenger with Cash While Stuck in Traffic: “Hii Pesa ni Tamu”

A Nairobi man has set social media alight after using a traffic standstill as an unexpected opportunity to hand out cash to strangers, all while delivering a cheeky message that left the recipients grinning.

The man, who runs a TikTok page under the username Reject Poverty Organisation, was sitting in his car beside a matatu when he rolled down his window and pulled out a KSh 200 note.

He handed it to the matatu tout, then fished out another note and passed it to a passenger seated at the window of the vehicle.

A Generous Gesture With a Twist

What made the moment stand out was the line that came with the money.

“Eat the devil’s money, you also want some, here take some and enjoy okay? The devil’s money is sweet,” he said to the bemused recipients, who accepted the notes with wide smiles and a look of amused disbelief at the unusual framing of the gift.

Both the tout and the passenger appeared thoroughly entertained by the whole exchange, and the clip quickly found its way to a much wider audience once posted online.
