Police in Kisii County have apprehended five suspects following a drug crackdown where they successfully intercepted vehicles transporting 588 kilograms of bhang valued at Ksh.17 million.

The bust, executed on Saturday by officers from the Moticho Police Station and their counterparts from Gucha South DCI office, resulted in the capture of Livingstone Akoko, Maxon Ochieng, Fan Odhiambo, Maxwell Musuku, and Abdirahman Ismael.

The operation revealed the illicit cargo distributed between two vehicles that carried 189 kgs of the illegal substance, while a third transported an even larger quantity weighing 399 kgs.

The suspects are currently in police custody, with ongoing efforts to locate and arrest two others who managed to evade capture during the operation.

The seized evidence, including the suspected bhang and the implicated vehicles, is being held at the Nyamarambe Police Station.
