Details have emerged on what it will cost students to study various degree programmes at both private and public universities in the country.
An analysis of the university fees for various courses shows that Kisii University will be the most expensive to study for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education at a cost of Sh283,135.
According to the course costs posted by the Kenya Universities Colleges Central Placement Service[KUCCPS], studying for the same degree at Kiriri Women’s University will cost Sh 82,350.
Giant Kenyatta University will be charging Sh183,600 per year to study an education degree in arts while Nairobi University will levy Sh 223,550 per year.
A Bachelor’s or Education degree at Moi University will cost Sh244,800 per year while Egerton University will charge Sh214,700 per year.
Daystar University is the most expensive private university to study the same degree at Sh214,700 per year with KCA University being the second cheapest at Sh 88,540 per year.
Universities that will be charging Sh183,600 per year for the same degree include Laikipia University, Maasai Mara, Kirinyaga, Kibabii, Kaimosi Friends, Garissa, Chuka and Bomet University College
Others are Machakos University, Maseno University, Masinde Muliro, Meru University of Science and Technology, Murang’a University of Technology, Rongo, South Eastern Kenya University, Tharaka University and Tom Mboya University.
Turkana University, the University of Kabianga, the University of Embu, and the University of Eldoret are among those charging Sh183,600 per year for an education degree in arts.
