A 36-year-old man from Nyakach Sub-county has succumbed to injuries sustained during a brutal attack by unidentified assailants on Tuesday night.

The victim, identified as Kennedy Okeyo, died while receiving treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he had been transferred from a facility in Ahero following the assault.

According to Maurice Adie, the Chief of North Nyakach Location, Okeyo was allegedly attacked after being found at the home of a woman with whom he was reportedly having an affair. The residence, located approximately two kilometers from the deceased’s home, became the scene of the violent incident.

“Unknown individuals stormed the woman’s home armed with crude weapons and attacked the man with a machete before fleeing,” said Chief Adie.

The woman has since been taken into police custody to assist with investigations. Authorities say she is being held due to her failure to identify or provide information about the attackers.

Chief Adie noted that the motive behind the attack is still under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest it may have been fueled by suspicions surrounding the alleged affair.
