A multi-agency team consisting of regular police officers and sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested four foreigners who were in possession of cocaine inside a house in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

Police say that the four were nabbed in the wee hours of the morning of Wednesday, August 30, 2023, inside their apartment located at Beckvike Homes.

The four were identified as Ali Abubakar, Mohammed Kassim, Saad Salim and Rosse Paul Tito. The fifth suspect was identified as Nancy Munyota, who is a Kenyan.

“A total of 143 pellets containing the highly addictive substance were recovered by Anti-narcotics detectives, stashed in empty packets of fruit juice. A further search led to the recovery of digital weighing machines, $245USD, Ksh26,100, Tsh11,000, Indian Rupees, and mobile phones,” a statement by the DCI read in part.

Nairobi News has established that locals within the area where the four were arrested had raised concerns over the activities of the five.

A DCI officer who spoke in confidence, as they are not authorised to speak to the media, said that the locals had informed the police that the suspects were in the drug business.

“Detectives were informed that they rarely leave the house but people usually stream into the house and leave,” said our source.

In the recent past, DCI sleuths have launched a crackdown targeting business people who are in the selling of prohibited drugs.

On August 21, 2023, a businesswoman identified as Nancy Kigunzu, popularly known as ‘Mathe wa Ngara’, linked to a drugs haul recovered in Ngara, Nairobi, was arrested by DCI sleuths.

Kigunzu was arrested despite moving to court to seek anticipatory bail to stop her arrest. Since then, she has been denied bail and is being held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) police post.

Kigunzu who described herself in court papers as a law-abiding citizen, said she had never committed any crime in Kenya and that she had never been summoned by police officers or charged with any crime.
