Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who has recently remained out of the public eye, has broken his silence.
This follows online speculation after Kindiki missed President William Ruto’s New Year party on Tuesday, December 31 at the Kisii State Lodge.
What did DP Kindiki say?
The deputy president, who has been in office for about two months no, did not directly address the online rumours about a rift with his boss, Ruto.
However, Kindiki, appearing to urge Kenyans to refrain from speculation, posted on X on Wednesday, January 1, saying the new year presents an opportunity to refocus on the country’s growth and development.
“Now is the time for each citizen to freshen the resolve to work harder towards a better future and a more cohesive nation,” Kindiki’s statement read in part.
He further emphasised the possibility of accelerating progress toward a society free from fear and want, concluding his post with a prayer for God’s blessings on the country.
“This way, we will expedite the realization of our vision of a society free from fear and want. God bless this our land and nation,” he added.
Is there a fallout between Kindiki and Ruto? In a separate story, Dennis Itumbi, Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects, strongly dismissed reports of a rift between Ruto and Kindiki.
Itumbi took to social media, calling the allegations baseless and challenging critics to create more substantive lies.
He said that the administration’s successes and projects in the new year will demonstrate the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to Kenyans.
