A new video has emerged showing the moment when a male passenger aboard a Kenya Airways flight destined for Lagos reportedly became restless and sparked a commotion before he died shortly afterwards.
The footage, recorded by a fellow passenger, captures a tense scene in the aircraft’s aisle as travellers appear to struggle with the man.
Passenger’s behaviour sparks concern
An on-screen caption claims: “It all started as a joke. The man was restless,” suggesting the incident began as a seemingly minor disturbance before escalating.
The handheld video shows passengers visibly agitated as the situation unfolds inside the confined aircraft cabin.
At one point, several travellers appear to be involved in restraining the man as the disturbance intensifies, with other passengers watching from their seats.
The footage has raised questions about what happened inside the aircraft before the passenger’s reported death and whether he experienced a medical emergency during the flight.
New footage emerges online
The disturbing development came after reports that the man at the centre of the commotion died aboard the aircraft.
It remains unclear whether his death was directly related to the incident captured on video or resulted from an underlying medical condition.
Airlines have procedures for handling passengers who become unwell or disruptive during flights, while crew members may provide first aid and seek assistance from medically trained passengers where available.
For now, the new footage provides only part of the story, and the full circumstances leading to the passenger’s death remain unclear.
Cause of death unknown
Kenya Airways confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, October 7, noting that the emergency unfolded at approximately 9.20 pm Nigerian time, which corresponds to 11.20 pm in Nairobi.
KQ crew administered first aid and followed emergency procedures, after which medical personnel met the aircraft upon landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
However, the passenger was found unresponsive about 20 minutes before the aircraft landed in Nigeria.
The airline confirmed that it was coordinating with the deceased’s family, Nigerian authorities and aviation regulators, without specifying what form that support would take.
