A multi-agency team comprising officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in Nakuru has confiscated fake cigarettes worth Ksh.7 million that were being packaged at Pipeline area in Nakuru East.

The officers nabbed 47 boxes of packaged cigarettes with each box containing 10,000 cigarettes at a residential house as fake KRA stamps were also confiscated.

Police are in pursuit of the owner of the house who they say fled after getting wind of the raid.

Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara said the operation against illegal goods will continue, adding that the government is losing Ksh.12.4 million in taxes through such businesses.
