Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) has announced that there will be a temporary closure of a section of Lang’ata Road between the Southern Bypass interchange and the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) offices.

According to a notice issued by the agency, the two-day temporary closure of the road will allow maintenance work to be carried out along the section.

“The contractor will close one lane on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 9 am to 6 pm both days inclusive,” read the notice.

The authority said traffic marshals and police would be deployed at the site to direct motorists and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

It advised motorists planning to use the route to drive with caution as they approached the closed section.

“We request the public to be patient as we strive towards transforming urban mobility,” read part of the notice by Kura.

The temporary closure comes days after Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced that a section of Uhuru Highway (A8) between the University of Nairobi roundabout and the Nairobi Expressway exit (Museum Hill exit) along the Nakuru-bound highway will be closed for 10 days.

In a statement on June 14, the authority said the closure is to allow maintenance work on the busy highway.

The section of the road was closed from Friday, June 14 and will reopen on Sunday, June 23.

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes including Nyerere Road, Arboretum Drive, Riverside Drive, and Ring Road Kileleshwa.

Motorists using the section were equally asked to exercise caution and follow the traffic signs and the guidance in place as shall be directed by police and traffic marshalls who will be on site.
