The KPC@50 Volleyball Tournament has received a major financial boost after the parent company Kenya Pipeline today pumped Sh. 1.3million sponsorship towards the event slated for next month.
Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) president Charles Nyaberi said the sponsorship will go a long way in helping the federation organise a top level event.
“We are grateful to the Kenya Pipeline for this gesture, coming out to sponsor KPC @50. Kenya Pipeline is one of Kenya’s oldest volleyball clubs and we are happy to be part of their affairs.”
Kenya Pipeline General Manager of Human Resource and Administration Dinah Kirwa, said the company was keen to support sports development in the country.
“This is one of the events that was earmarked as part of our celebrations. This comes because of our passion for sports and especially in volleyball,” noted Kirwa.
Kenya Pipeline, the parent company to Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Women’s Club, will be marking its 50 years of existence during the extravaganza.
The tournament has attracted 12 volleyball men’s clubs, nine volleyball women’s clubs while high school teams Kwanthanze Girls Secondary School and Soweto Academy have been invited.
Legends who have previously graced the volleyball scene in the past few years will also have a bite to chew in the tournament.
The event is scheduled for Kasarani and Nyayo indoor arenas from April 5 to 7.
The tournament will also be crucial in helping the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Equity teams prepare for Africa Club Championships slated for next month in Cairo, Egypt.
