A family from Ngobit village in Laikipia County is appealing to the public for help tracing their relative Paul Njurung’a Ngatia, who has been missing for roughly six years and would now be 62 years old.

Paul left his rural home years ago in search of work in Nairobi, eventually settling in the Mathare area, where his nephew Francis Ngunjiri visited him.

At the time, Paul was employed at a company in Ngara where he worked as a tailor making uniforms.

The last time family saw Paul was in 2008

Francis told Newsunplug.co.ke that the two kept in touch by phone for a period after that visit, but communication gradually faded. The last time they met was in 2008, but they kept communicating on the phone until 2011, when Paul’s trail went cold.

“After the visit, we kept in touch on the phone for a while but eventually stopped communicating. 2008 was far off and I didn’t know Nairobi so well, hence tracing him became a difficult task,” Francis said.

He added that Paul had no wife or children when he disappeared and had maintained very little contact with relatives back in Laikipia even before losing touch entirely.

“Most of our relatives do not know him because he never returned home after leaving for Mathare and also did not keep in touch with many people apart from me,” Francis shared.

Family Preparing to File Missing Persons Report

Despite years of searching independently, Francis has been unable to locate his uncle. The family has not yet filed a formal missing persons report, though Francis confirmed that is about to change.

“His brother, one of my other uncles, will go to the police station to file a missing persons report. We did not know but now we do. I hope we can bring my uncle home safely,” he said.

Francis is now turning to the public for any leads that could reunite Paul with the family waiting for him in Laikipia.
