The Laikipia County Government has halted the recruitment of over 400 new casual workers, leaving prospective employees dissatisfied.
The cancellation of the countywide recruitment scheduled to begin today has been postponed, according to a statement issued by Governor Joshua Irungu, following consultations with the leadership of the Laikipia County Assembly.
The governor told the press in Nyahururu that the status quo will be maintained for employees and casual workers currently employed by the county government for the next three months.
He noted that the decision was made to give the county leadership time to develop a casual worker recruitment policy that will aid in distinguishing between professional casuals and other worker cadres.
He stated that the policy would be in place within three months, paving the way for a better way of engaging casual workers.
