Former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has hailed veteran midfielder Luka Modric, describing the Croat as ‘the beauty of football’.

Mourinho signed the Croat from Tottenham in the summer of 2012 and he has gone on to become one of world’s best players.

In 12 years at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has contributed 39 goals and 86 assists in 531 games.

Despite being nearly 40, Modric has made 43 appearances across competitions this term.

“Luka Modric? He is the beauty of football,” said the Portuguese, according to Madrid Xtra.

“He is my pride, because I took him to Real Madrid when nobody believed that he was a player for Real Madrid.”
