A Kenyan X user found himself on the wrong end of an AI clap-back this week after insulting Grok, Elon Musk’s chatbot, only to have it respond in his own language.
On Wednesday, August 2, the user @monster0x0000 posed a popular challenge to Grok, asking the AI to analyse his tweets and retweets and match him to a dictator, politician, religious figure, historical figure, artist, ideology, foreign political party, poet, and fictional character.
How did Grok tell off Kenyan?
Grok delivered a detailed breakdown: Dictator — Francisco Franco; Politician — William Ruto; Religious figure — St. Thomas Aquinas; Historical figure — Blaise Pascal; Artist — Lionel Messi; Ideology — Christian democracy; Foreign political party — CSU; Poet — T.S. Eliot; Fictional character — Don Quixote.
The response clearly did not sit well with the user.
Rather than accept the analysis, @monster0x0000 fired back at the chatbot with a colourful Swahili phrase loosely translating to telling the AI to go away.
What followed caught the entire thread off guard. Instead of retreating into a bland, corporate-sounding disclaimer, Grok clapped back in fluent Swahili:
“Sawa buda, wewe ndiye uliuliza analysis. Iko based on posts na RTs zako pekee. Franco na Ruto walitokea huko.”
Translated, the chatbot told the user he was the one who asked for the analysis, that the results came purely from his own posts and retweets, and that if he did not like the answer, he could take his own advice.
The exchange quickly spread across the platform, with Kenyan users particularly entertained by the fact that Grok had not only matched the energy of the insult but had done so in Swahili.

“Grok kwani umekasirika bro?”
Meanwhile, @Thii_RedBarron offered perhaps the most straightforward verdict:
“This is beautiful.”
The episode highlighted the growing personality that AI tools like Grok are developing, particularly in multilingual settings where users test the boundaries of what a chatbot will tolerate.
