TV host Laura Mbatha has recounted how a female politician went silent on Natalie Githinji days before her endometriosis event, despite earlier offering to support the campaign with a year’s supply of pads.
Mbatha said the politician contacted Natalie after hearing about endometriosis but appeared not to understand the condition. She explained that Natalie told the politician about her upcoming event and invited her to attend and offer support.
“I have been hearing about endometriosis…maybe na hiyo accent mtajua ni nani but sawa. I don’t know what it is. Sasa nashangaa amepiga simu ya nini,” Laura Mbatha said on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Mbatha said the politician asked Natalie what she needed, but Natalie told her that she did not need anything and instead asked her to attend the event, which was scheduled for September 27, 2026. She said the politician then offered to provide pads for a year.

“Akuliza Natalie what she needs, Natalie akasema yeye haneed kitu ako na event 27, kama anaweza kuja akuje atu support. Akaanza, ‘nataka kukupea a year supply of pads’, but how long is that sustainable?” Mbatha said.
Communication went quiet
Mbatha said the team was already planning the event with Eric Omondi when the conversation with the politician took place. She explained that the politician said they would discuss the matter further, but communication later stopped.
“Tulimwambia tunapanga hii event na Eric akauliza, Eric Wainaina? Tukasema Eric Omondi, blue ticks, Akasema tutabonga,” Laura Mbatha said.
She said the team later tried to reach the politician a few days before the event but did not receive a response. Mbatha described the situation as the politician going silent after initially offering to support Natalie with the pads.

“A few days we reached out hatukuongoleshwa,” Laura Mbatha said.
Natalie hosted the Endometriosis Awareness Campaign at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The event brought together celebrities, artists, fans and people living with endometriosis.
The gathering also attracted attention after nominated Senator Karen Nyamu was booed by some attendees, with chants directed at her during the event.
Days after the event, Natalie broke her silence and thanked everyone who contributed to the campaign. She described the gathering as more than just an event.
