Learning activities have been paralysed in a number of schools due to the ongoing anti-government protests in Migori County.
Businesses have also been closed and transport paralyzed along the Rongo-Isebania highway.
A spot check by Citizen Digital established that a number of schools were closed and teachers were also not in schools on Wednesday.
Migori Muslim primary school in Suna East Sub-County was closed after all learners failed to report to school as expected.
The school board of management chairperson Abdi Fataha said the parents opted not to release their children because of safety concerns.
Fataha said he is worried about the performance of the schools in the end-year examinations if the demonstration continues.
He said the government must listen to the cry of Kenyans who are protesting over the high cost of living in the country.
Meanwhile, protesters engaged police in running battles in the streets. The police removed the barricades erected for the protesters who started their demonstrations as early as 4 am, and used teargas canisters to disperse the protesters.
