Geoffrey Kiragu, the director of real estate company Lesedi Developers, was on Tuesday arraigned at the Thika Law Courts and charged with 12 counts of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Kiragu appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Oscar Wanyaga where he denied all the charges.
According to the charge sheet seen by Citizen Digital, Kiragu was charged that on diverse dates last year, while trading as Lesedi Developers Limited and with intent to defraud, he obtained monies from various individuals by pretending he was in a position to sell them parcels of land.
All the 12 counts of fraud amounted to Ksh.5.4 million.
Over 100 land buyers flocked to Thika law courts to have a glimpse of a man who has been on the run after allegedly defrauding his clients millions of shillings by selling them parcels of land without proper documents.
His lawyers Daniel Gachau Mwangi and a veteran lawyer John Khaminwa wanted the accused to be released on a cash bail of Ksh.50,000 but the court ruled that he be detained in Muthaiga Police station for at least two days.
