Police in Kiambu County have initiated a manhunt for a man accused of luring his ex-lover and allegedly stabbing her to death. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

The victim, identified as Ms Alice Wangeci, was a student at the Kanjuku Vocational Training Center in Kiambu County.

Her family revealed that she lost her life after being stabbed by her ex-lover, who had deceived her by claiming to have found her lost phone.

According to Ms Mary Wanjiku, the mother of the deceased, the suspect called her daughter, informing her that he had found her missing phone.

Delighted by the news, Ms Wangeci agreed to meet him, which unfortunately resulted in her untimely demise. The tragic incident took place just a few meters from a police station.

“We are puzzled by how she could be fatally stabbed right beside a police station. If not for a vigilant neighbour who discovered her body and alerted the authorities, her remains might not have been found,” lamented Mr David Kimani, the father of the deceased.

Ms Wanjiku disclosed that her daughter had recently returned to school after spending time at home during the holiday season.

She also mentioned that Alice had been living with diabetes for the past 14 years and described her as a courageous individual.

The family spoke fondly of their daughter, highlighting her responsible nature. They shared that Alice would save money and often surprise the family with gifts whenever she returned home.

“To be honest, I am truly heartbroken by what transpired, but I believe God will fight for my daughter, and she will eventually receive justice,” said Ms. Wanjiku. She urged the police to work tirelessly to locate and apprehend the suspect, who went into hiding after committing the heinous act.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing as authorities intensify efforts to bring the suspect to justice.
