Nabwera has filed a defamation suit at the High Court, accusing Savula of publicly making statements that insinuated he is living with HIV—claims the legislator strongly denies.
In his court filings, Nabwera argues that the remarks were made openly and later circulated to a wide audience, subjecting him to stigma, public scrutiny and reputational harm. He maintains that the assertions were reckless, false and deliberately aimed at discrediting him as a public leader.
The MP says the allegations have caused him emotional distress and risk eroding public confidence in his leadership, both politically and socially.
Nabwera is seeking an order compelling a medically supervised HIV test involving both himself and Savula.
He wants the process conducted transparently under the supervision of qualified medical professionals, with media present.
According to Nabwera, the request is intended to definitively disprove the allegations and bring an end to what he describes as malicious and irresponsible claims.
Through his lawyer Danstan Omari the legislator argues that the case raises broader concerns about the misuse of sensitive health matters in political contests, warning that such conduct perpetuates stigma and undermines human dignity.
