M-Pesa services to be unavailable as Safaricom announces maintenance

Leading telecommunications giant Safaricom has announced a planned system maintenance that will run from 11pm on Saturday, May 20, until 4am on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

The firm, in a public statement released on Friday, stated that a number of services will be unavailable during the stated time period, among them the PayBill and Buy Goods Lipa Na M-Pesa facilities.

Others are; M-Pesa Business to Customer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B), Daraja Portal and all M-Pesa APIs, M-Pesa organization portal, dealer portal, and Lipa Na M-Pesa portal.

Services for International Money Transfers (Western Union) and M-Pesa Global, as well as the M-Pesa App and Safaricom App will also be shut down.

Further, M-Shwari, KCB M-Pesa, M-Kesho, Hustler Fund, Fuliza New Limit allocation, Pinless Top-up, and loT services will be affected by the maintenance.

“All other services including calls, data and SMS and all other M-PESA services will be available as usual,” read the statement.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your support in maintaining our position as the country’s leading provider.”
