Machakos: Residents protest alleged sidelining in development projects

Angry residents of Matungulu, Machakos County on Sunday protested alleged sidelining in development projects.

Even the heavy downpour could not stop the locals who accused the county government of ‘forgetting’ them with no development done in the Kyeleni and Matungulu North wards.

The residents complained of dilapidated roads, lack of medicine in hospitals, and bursaries.

They urged Governor Wavinya Ndeti to hear their cry and bring development programmes to them.

The residents also planted trees and vegetables on the roads in protest.

Present during the demonstration was Kyeleni MCA Grace Bahati who said that she has been pushing for development projects in the assembly and to the executive.

She claimed her requests fell on deaf ears.

However, the county Chief of Staff Lawrence Ngovi labelled the demonstration politically instigated, saying Governor Ndeti has plans set in place for Kyeleni, Kyanzavi and Donyo Sabuk residents to get development in their areas.
