National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro has criticised leaders within the Kenya Kwanza coalition for saying Kenya is a country of shareholders.

Speaking during a meeting in Shinyalu, Kakamega County on Sunday, the South Mugirango Member of Parliament said it is now time for the leaders to accept that Kenya belongs to everyone, whether they voted for President William Ruto or not.

” Stop this shareholders issue. All Kenyans are in government and all of us want to be involved in development issues. Honeymoon is over, celebrations are over,” Osoro said.

He warned that it is time for all leaders to serve the people without favour or bias, saying the time for politics is over.

“Let us stop chest thumping, tell the people the plans we have. For example the teachers we have employed in a year,” he added.

Osoro’s sentiments were supported by Trade CS Moses Kuria who said Kenyans are equal and the shareholding narrative should be shelved.

The two leaders appear to differ with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who first came up with the narrative, much to the consternation of a section of the country.

Gachagua said those who voted for him and Ruto are the biggest shareholders in the Kenya Kwanza government and should get more development than those who didn’t.

He said the rest should wait for the remains, if any.

His sentiments were heavily criticised by a section of Kenyans, especially the opposition who argued that they are taxpayers too and should not be sidelined.
