The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, has officially launched the construction of a new factory for Softcare Kenya, a manufacturer of personal products, in Athi River, Machakos County.

The expansion aims to triple the production of their softcare brands, double job opportunities, and embrace sustainable production practices, including solar energy.

The First Lady commended the directors of Sunda Group for their investments in manufacturing in Kenya, particularly through their Softcare brand of personal care products and the Twyford brand of flooring tiles.

Mama Rachel Ruto further cited the Sunda Group’s dedication to empowering women, with the majority of the workforce in the factory being female, setting an example for other industries to follow.

The First Lady encouraged organisations in aKenya to be intentional about gender equity in all spheres of life, giving equal opportunities for women to be uplifted.
