First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto hosted Muslim women at State House in Nairobi for Iftar, the fast-breaking evening meal during Ramadan.
Mrs. Ruto recognised the important role Muslim women play during this fasting period as the backbone of their families and communities.
The First Lady celebrated the role of women as a critical pillar in the family, and even during this month, women are at the centre of breaking fast and hosting Iftar, which brings families together.
The First Lady mentioned that women have a critical role in preserving the sanctity of family and are protectors, and we agreed as mothers to fight for family, especially during modern times when family and children are under attack.
She further urged the ladies to be a living example of their faith and to be agents of social change in their families and communities.
