A 34-year-old man was on Monday arraigned at the Wang’uru Law Courts in Kirinyaga County, for allegedly sending abusive messages to Mwea Member of Parliament (MP) Mary Maingi via WhatsApp.

While appearing before Wanguru principal magistrate Martha Opanga, the court was told that Joseph Muiruri Kamau sent offensive messages to MP Maingi using his mobile phone on March 27,2O25.

The court was told that Kamau willfully communicated directly by sending a WhatsApp message penning the indecent words, knowing the conduct was offensive and would affect MP Maingi.

He denied the charge and was granted a bond of Ksh.100,000 or cash bail of Ksh.30,000.

The case will be mentioned on April 28, 2025 and a hearing will be held on July 28, 2025.
