Residents of the Lukume area in Kakamega County’s Malava constituency are still in shock following an incident in which a man attacked and killed his wife, then hid her body on the roof of their house dying by committing suicide.
Prior to the tragedy, the deceased man claimed that his wife was having extramarital affairs.
He is said to have killed his wife in an argument that ensued following a confrontation over infidelity.
Isaiah, 47, returned home three days ago from his work in the Nanyuki area, according to the late Esther Enock’s mother and brother Zakayo Wakhanu.
“They started arguing in the house and after some time, the woman admitted that in the husband’s absence, there’s a man that sleeps in their matrimonial bed and that she has also paid him several visits,” a resident said.
He alleged that he discovered communication between his wife and her extramarital partner through her mobile phone. Efforts to counsel him over the last two days bore no fruit according to his family.
“This Solomon has saddened the community. I am calling on fellow women, if there’s a conflict in your homes, seek help in the community, there’s the church or even tell your mother if she’s alive. Talk to your friends if you can because today’s actions are really bad,” another resident said.
The Kakamega County Police Commander, Joseph Kigen, confirmed that an investigation is underway and that they are awaiting the results of an autopsy on the bodies, which were moved to the Kakamega General Hospital mortuary.
