The man identified as Clinton Obiero was in the process of fetching water from the borehole when he slid and drowned, police said.

Fire brigade team from the county arrived at the scene and helped to retrieve the body.

A 35-year-old man drowned in a family borehole as he drew water in a village in Borabu, Nyamira County.

The incident happened on Monday at about 5 pm. A fire brigade team from the county government arrived at the scene and helped to retrieve the body.

Meanwhile, the body of a woman who had been missing for three days was found in her house in Umoja, Na which had been on the bed for at least three days.

Police were called to the scene and helped to move the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other processes.

Police handling the matter said they do not know if she died by suicide or as a result of the tablets she is suspected to have swallowed.

No suicide note was recovered at the scene, police said.
