A man has died after he was electrocuted on Tuesday night in Kosawo area in Manyatta, Kisumu County.

Kondele location Chief Maurice Ajwang said the man met his death after climbing an electric pole.

The deceased, identified as Jeremiah Osiri alias Mzee, climbed the utility pole following a blackout in the area.

Chief Ajwang said that Osiri died instantly after getting into contact with a live wire.

The motive behind his move is yet to be established but preliminary investigations show that the man was not an authorized employee of Kenya Power Company.

Following the incident, Kenya Power personnel and police visited and processed the scene and retrieved his body.

The body was taken to a nearby morgue as investigations continue.
