A middle-aged man from Ointoptich Village, Lawina sub-location Ndoswa Location in Mariashoni Molo Nakuru was arrested on Sunday after he was discovered exhuming his late wife’s remains.

Speaking to Citizen Digital via phone, Ndoswa Location Chief Jonah Komen said his juniors received a tip-off from local residents who saw the man carrying out the exhumation exercise, and that when they arrived at the scene, the man was still carrying out the exercise.

“I was called by my juniors who were seeking my intervention after the man was found digging the grave of the wife and we arrived at the homestead and stopped the man where we called police officers and arrested him and was taken to Elburgon Police station awaiting arraignment in Molo law courts” Said Chief Komen.

According to Chief Komen, after questioning the man, he stated that he wanted to unearth the wife’s remains because the wife’s spirits had been tormenting him frequently.

Komen went on to say that they discovered the man had been attending a rogue church in neighboring Kericho County, and that the teaching he had been receiving may have caused the man to carry out the exhumation.

” We suspect the rogue church that this Man has been attending in Kericho and the teaching he has been receiving might have inspired him to exhume the remains of the wife”” Added Komen

Chief Komem stated that they are waiting for public health officers to arrive at the scene and process the scene to determine whether he was successful in exhuming the remains.

He has urged residents to seek help if they are feeling overwhelmed by mental health issues.
