Leonard Achila, aged 72, tragically took his own life in Basa South, Rachuonyo Sub-County, after failing to repay a loan on time.
The former educator surprised both his family and the community by using a rope to end his life, tying it to a tree.
The area chief, Tom Ondiro, revealed that he had spoken to the teacher, who had promised to find a solution for the KSh 120,000 loan he had obtained from a financial institution.
“The elderly man told his family that he would take his own life after failing to make the repayment,” said Ondiro
