Police in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County on Thursday discovered the mutilated body of a male adult in Njuki-ini forest.
The body, which has yet to be identified, was missing both hands while its face had seemingly been burned with acid.
Confirming the incident, Gichugu Sub-County Police Commander Edward Ndirangu told Citizen Digital that the body was discovered by women who had ventured into the forest to collect firewood.
They soon after reported the incident to police who arrived at the scene.
The boys in blue suspect that the man was killed at a different location before his body was dumped in the forest.
“We haven’t been able to identify the body since its face was badly disfigured. The man’s hands were also severed,” said Ndirangu.
The body of the deceased has since been moved to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for storage pending identification and post-mortem.
